| Center Overview: |
| Since its foundation in 1947, the Instituto Cultural Domínico-Americano (ICDA) has become a model of teaching excellence, particularly in the area of foreign languages such as English and Spanish. While using education as a tool to contribute to the country¿s development, ICDA´s mission is to foster English proficiency and intercultural exchange between the Dominican Republic and United States. Within the past year, ICDA has taught over ten thousand students through its diverse educational services: Domínico-Americano College; School of Languages; Secondary/Middle School; Technical School; Intensive English, career development, and English as a Second Language programs. In 1961, the Agency for International Development (AID) provided funds to ICDA for the establishment of an Educational Counseling Office (ECO) that would guide students on how to enroll in U.S. academic programs. Through its affiliation with EducationUSA, the ECO offers materials about the U.S. education system such as its accredited colleges/universities, Intensive English programs, technical/vocation schools, summer camps, and financial aid opportunities. |
