NATIONAL ACCREDITATION OF UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES
|
Depending on the kind of university or college it is (e.g., private, public, Christian, etc.) an institution may also be accredited by national, institute-type specific agencies. America's universities are extremely different in character, size, location and in the programs they offer. Therefore a school may be accredited by one or more organizations.
The accrediting organizations discussed in this section--which you can explore through the menu on the right--are recognized by either the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the United States Department of Education (USDE). Recognition by CHEA and or the USDE affirms that the standards and processes of the accrediting organization are consistent with the academic quality, improvement and accountability expectations that CHEA and or the USDE has established, including the eligibility standard that the majority of institutions or programs each accredits are degree-granting.
Use the menu links information on national faith-related accrediting organizations, national career- related accrediting organizations, programmatic (specialized) accrediting organizations, as well as a link to the Council of Recognized National Accrediting Agencies (CRNAA). National accreditation of universities and colleges in the US is your assurance that you're getting a quality education.
